Li Gold
Born in Skagit Valley Washington, Li grew up in a musical household. Raised on large doses of Johnny Cash, Hank Thompson, Hank Williams, and a host of other classic Country Western singer song writers.
She wrote her first song in first grade, and learned to play guitar on her dad's red Fender electric, plugged into an old Fender amp. in the second grade.
Though she began preforming at a very young age, when she discovered Sonny and Cher, she grew her hair long, and when she discovered Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and that whole era of song writers, she began a new and exciting direction in the songs that she wrote. When she heard Janis Joplin sing, it changed the way she viewed what she was "allowed" to do with her voice.
In the early 1970's, after several years of solo acts in small clubs, she began singing lead vocals in a vocal filled band called the Stonetones. Their music was blusey and swingy, giving her an even wider range to the way she thought (thinks) about music.
Along the way, she has sung with several bands, but has never strayed from her song writing. And now, you can enjoy her first CD collection of original tunes, "Soul Divine". If you don't have a copy, get one. It's a journey you don't want to miss!!!
